Apartment Photos: A Feature Wall

This is the main side of my bedroom.

Bedroom Bedroom

It was originally all cream-coloured, just like the rest of the apartment. However, the bedroom was a bit bland, and after ordering the black and white prints online, I figured a bit of colour would spice up the decor! The colour is British Paint’s no. 22 Devil’s Cloak. I had contemplated a royal blue shade, but a deep red just seemed so much easier to match to the rest of my decor. This is also a Dylan-only paint job – I bought the paint and supplies a few days before I went to Sydney, and got him to paint while I was away. This saved me from having to do the work and breathe in paint fumes and just meant that he had to sleep on the couch for a few nights.

Cost

Total cost: $988.20AUD.

The storage ottoman (far right) is one of the better recent purchases I’ve made. Previously, I was storing all my spare linen on the top of my wardrobe, as I don’t technically have a linen cupboard. As I don’t have that much (I just have two sets of bedsheets and doona covers!), I just needed a small functional space to store them. Storing them in the ottoman means that I now have more space in my wardrobe, and extra surface area to throw my handbag, some clothes that aren’t quite ready to go in the wash (see earlier entry), a few library books, etc! I’m also contemplating buying another one for the other side of the bed as a tool storage place. Dylan currently has screwdrivers, socket sets, and other manly tools all over the house. Having all his tools centralised in the one place would be much easier.

I’m not quite sure what to do with the rest of the bedroom, which is currently just one large blank wall and a corner just big enough for a small armchair. Just some artwork and a funky coloured armchair? Ah…decisions.

  3. Looks good! We did some red accent walls in our apartment and I love them to pieces. Red is by far the best color for accent walls, I think.

  4. If I go to Melbourne this year (in which I am planning to–it would be nice to go to one Australian city a year or maybe twice, I went to Perth last year and loved it), I’m going to shamelessly ask you if I can stay over your pad for a night. Shamelessly! That is a great wall, I love simplicity and this is definitely a beautiful one :)

  6. I LOVE it. The contrast of the artwork with the wall just works amazingly. Makes me want to look up where I can find paint right after I type up this comment..
