I love the fact you post about work, it actually forces me to take my 'career' a little more seriously than I did before I met you! :D

I didn't find that boring at all! I found it very interesting to learn how you think, and I like how you think. Clearly you know what you want and what you need to get it. And I'm sure you will!

Pssshh I love hearing about your work. It's a great barometer for how I'm doing in my own career :)

I agree with Meg, I'm not quite there yet at the life stage of career selection but it's definitely good to hear other people's thoughts on the subject and to pick up a few things that can be used in our own lives. =)

As I said before, you are textbook Gen Y. Companies need to realise and expect these types of attitudes and requests.

Can I offer some advice Amanda? Get to learn about Gen X and Baby Boomer culture. Everyone is telling everyone else what Gen Y's are like and how they think, act, motivate etc, just remember most of current power still rests with Baby Boomers and Gen X. (fyi, I'm born 1979, so X or Y depends on where you draw the line). Learning how to "manipulate" and manage X and BB's will certainly help your career progresion.

Actually, I find your work ambition refreshing. I'm the type who finds a job and settles in. Your entries remind me that hey, I'm valuable too and I shouldn't let anyone take me for granted. They help me to reevaluate my worth, always an important thing that I tend to let slide.

Rock on, Amanda.

Not at all. Now that I'm at the point in my life where I have to think about my career, I find reading other people's thoughts about their careers more and more interesting. I just, y'know, don't have much to comment, other than to say good for you for knowing and going after what you want!
