I’m A Yuppie, Deal With It

I splurged today, and spent $260AUD on kitchen appliances for when I move into my own place. The total recommended retail price was $490AUD though, so by most people’s terms, it probably wasn’t so much a splurge than a saving.
A Ronson slow cooker. A Sunbeam four-slice toaster. A Bellini kettle. A Sanyo microwave oven. All courtesy of Target’s catalogue sale (Warning – large 14MB pdf file) on selected kitchen appliances, and all in storage at my parents’ house until I actually move in.
Common theme? They’re all stainless steel. I’m yuppie enough to want all my kitchen appliances to be stainless steel, as it looks more uniform and “classier”. I’m so stereotypically upwardly-mobile that it’s almost sickening.

Hahaha, if it makes you feel any better I would’ve done just the same, and stainless steel is a must! (why not extend outside the kitchen too – stainless steel bins!)
I might also throw in the bench maker and hand mixer, cause if I finally move out of my poor oppressed kitchen the first thing I would do is go nuts on cooking/baking/creating.
I’d replace the sandwich press with the George Foreman for more multi-use.
But I’d also choose the Bellini kettle simply for aesthetics, cause we’ve gotta have that quirky edge to our stainless steel ;)
Also, you know what I’ve found incredibly useful as of late? Tiny tiny blenders for making sauces, blending garlic and chili etc to make a range of Asian pickled stuff. Great due its size + you’ll never end up with garlic infused milkshakes :D
Ah, I spend too much time daydreaming about what I’d like my future life to be and working out what I want. No joke, kinda sad lol.

Ooooh me too. I still live at home, but most if not all of the furniture and “stuff” in our house is inherited, adopted, thrifted, flea market-ed, or whatever. Nothing alike, nothing even similar or the same style, just all over the place. I’m redoing my bedroom entirely (because I can’t afford to move out but hey, gotta do SOMETHING) and I’m being like this huge stickler about everything matching. All the furniture one color and similar in style, etc and so forth.
And when I play my Sims houses, all their appliances are stainless steel as well

To be perfectly honest, I had to look up what a “yuppie” was! Well I’d have to say it was a good decision – i’ve always admired people with uniform kitchen appliances, and stainless steel is just oh-so-modern-looking, isn’t it?
