I Have Never Been In So Much Debt

March 13, 2010 | Filed under House

i can haz home?

…but at least I have my very first apartment to show for it?

Note to all other potential home buyers – try to buy a property through private sale rather than auction. Four hours later and I’m still shaking with nerves and excitement. Bidding at an auction is frightening stuff – once the gavel hit the contract, I burst into tears!

  1. WOOT! Congratulations!!!
Don’t look at it as debt. It’s a very good investment ;)

  2. Wow! Congrats! I might have what it takes to buy my own first home in 20 years. Or maybe 30.

  4. Whoot, congrats! I know you’ve had your eye on this target of owning your own place for aaages, I’m glad its finally happened :) Aaaand, at least your debt has something to show for it – think of all the stupid masses out there buried in credit card debts on shopping spreees for momentary, fleeting happiness?

Anyway, please post pics of the apartment! When can you move in??

  7. Congratulations, Amanda! I’m sure you’re feeling very proud right now, as you should be! It always feels good to achieve a goal and this is one of the major ones (and especially spectacular for your age), I hope you do something to celebrate big time.

While yes it’s debt, most people don’t pay off their mortgage debt until they’re in their 40s or 50s – you’re gonna be debt
-free way ahead of the game!
