[...] My friend Jake asked me recently whether I’d considered moving into the corporate world, because my skill set and personality is ideal for it in that I’m excellent at wheeling and dealing, convincing people to give me the outcome I want, etc. I’ve been looking at jobs in Sydney, and there are a million and one jobs that I’m eminently qualified for that would pay me 30% more than what I’m currently earning.
You sure know how to make a guy feel like a million bucks, Amanda! I wrote a reply post, but it's not nearly as well-crafted and inspiring as this one.

I wish I had just one friend like this. It would make the agony of making and keeping friends worth it.

Friends like that are awesome, like you say. My oldest friendship is somewhat like that, though a little more distant. We can go for years without seeing each other yet grow together during that time without contact.
