red outfit

I usually never have any problems picking out what to wear in the morning. My wardrobe is very monochromatic – most items are usually black, grey, or white, and I can mix and match pretty much anything and come up with a decent looking outfit. It’s pretty brainless.

On occasion however, I get a day where nothing seems to go right and I can’t choose an outfit. Those are the days where I resort to wearing a splash of colour to brighten up an outfit. Red is usually my colour of choice on those days – it gives a little more “oomph” than blue I think – and red and blue tend to be the colours in my wardrobe! I think it works for me – this is my all-purpose, suits-everything, outfit.

  1. Cotton On grey cotton T-shirt – 2 for $20AUD
  2. Events red cardigan – $29AUD down from $99AUD
  3. FCUK black jacket – $199.95AUD from $249.95AUD (argh!)
  4. Lee Riders skinny leg jeans – $5AUD thrifted
  5. Red snakeskin heels – $10AUD from $70AUD (approx)
  6. Black, red, and crystal pendant from Diva – $5AUD
  7. Red headband – pack of two (black and red) for $5AUD

Excuse the bad quality of the photo, and ignore the weird look on my face – I have no idea what was going on there. I also look huge because I haven’t done up the buttons on the jacket and am just wearing it loose – my upper half looks at least a size larger than it actually is!

  1. If I ever feel the need for colour, I go with royal purple, because it’s my favourite colour after rainbow… and it’s close enough to black. Haha.

Also, I think you look slimmer in this photo compared to some of your other ones. Maybe it’s the bitch face?! :P

You really should add more color to your wardrobe :D

  4. When i feel like wearing a splash of colour, it’s usually green. :)

Colour is good! The red suits you.

  5. I don’t get you people that usually only wear black/grey/white. I need color.

  6. You know, for a moment, I thought that you dyed your hair red — but then you mentioned the headband! I don’t know if it’s the picture or not, but the headband really brings out the coppery tones in your hair. You should definitely consider getting red/copper highlights — the color suits you!

Anyway, your outfit is so together! I love red for accentuation purposes… especially red lipstick! :D

  7. You look like you have those “shifty” eyes, in which you suspect something strange is going on.

    But I like red…it stands out a lot in a monochrome-type outfit.

  8. I’m not allowed to wear a lot of black after my “goth” phase, haha. My clothes never really match; only in hues. The outfit looks really good, though. That’s a good idea (the whole monotone color clothing). That’s an expensive jacket, though, geez.
And quiet – you do not look bad! :D

  9. I like people like you who have a basic wardrobe that matches, because I am the complete opposite. It’s all bright colours that catch my eye and nothing goes together. I’m like some kind of fashion magpie. The splashes of red do look good though. :)
