Amanda Is Not Shopping

Clothing items I have purchased since January 1st, 2009:
- 1x grey fleecy button-up Dunlop sweater: £4 (Primark in the UK)
- 1x grey fleecy pullover: $2AUD (opshop)
- 1x Gorman grey long-sleeved cotton top: $3AUD (opshop)
- 1x Guess true blue bootleg jeans: $8AUD (opshop)
- 1x Riders (Lee) men’s skinny leg jeans: $5AUD (opshop)
In other words, I haven’t shopped much at all, and what I have bought, has cost me about a grand total of $28AUD! They’re also good basic items that I can get years of wear out of – a good pair of jeans, and a simple cotton top never goes wrong.
You also need to keep in mind that since my decision to move overseas, I’ve been clearing out my wardrobe and selling items on eBay. At this point in time, I’ve gotten “rid” of at least half of the clothing items that I once owned, and am now down to a mere fraction of my former wardrobe, which I actually hope to continue pruning.
Before you know it, maybe I’ll even get to the point of having a “50 key items” ideal wardrobe – a capsule wardrobe where you can mix and match every item for a million and one different outfits.

I’m not quite sure I even have 50 items… hmm.

I haven’t been shopping all that much lately either… I’ve only gone shopping once this year. But my grand total was pretty damn hefty… at least compared to yours!

I’ve been working toward the smaller wardrobe idea ever since I heard you first mentioned it. I still have a ton of clothes to sort out though.

You say FIFTY is ideal? I doubt I would make it up to 30. Geez. I need to buy more clothes.
Except I live out of my bags, so I really can’t go over 40kg of clothes and random stuff.
Hm. Dilemma.

How do you it? I keep telling myself I’m going to stop shopping, but then magically I end up with shopping bags full of stuff. :( Though, I’ve pruned a lot of my wardrobe too. It’s satisfying looking in my closet and seeing space.

Spreadsheets? You’re so fastidious in your wardrobe trimming! :P

Geez Amanda, you really are suited for a clothing store! Even your own closet has it’s own inventory!

Wow you are so organized! I don’t think I’d have the time and patience to make a spreadsheet of my clothes! Great deals you found, too!

I think it’s great you take everything about moving so seriously. That’s not something I see a lot when I hear one wants to move to another country. Good job :D
