Urinary Tract Infection
April 10, 2009 | Filed under Body
So, this is possibly sharing a bit too much information with you BUT I think there’s been plenty of precedent set for TMI on this blog already, so another tidbit of information really isn’t going to make that much more of a difference. I have cystitis/a urinary tract infection.
This is actually the first time I’ve ever had anything of this nature happen to me in the groin region, and fucking hell, I hope it never happens again. IT BURNS WHEN I PEE. I WAS PEEING BLOOD YESTERDAY. MY PEE SMELLS LIKE A PUBLIC TOILET. There is no end to this misery which is only being alleviated by this:

…which is still not enough to make me feel better. I’d like my normal body back thanks.
In other news, I’m going to a Korean BBQ restaurant tonight with my family, aunt, uncle, and cousins (and a friend who’s going to feel like a total third wheel). The restaurant offers private rooms with no time limit, with a banquet for $30AUD per head, and free karaoke in the room. Sheer perfection.

Ouch, that sucks balls. I’ve had it happen to me once, and it happened the night before an assignment was due, and which I hadn’t started (didn’t predict I was going to get a UTI). Waited until 4am before being able to see a doctor at the local hospital… but thankfully, a couple of antibiotics got me feeling better quite quickly.
But yeah… never want to pee blood again. :(

Ahhh it’s not a case of TMI… I had UTI a few years back and that was a bitch. What helped me deal with the burning was peeing in the shower with the water pouring down my lady parts… Needless to say, I almost just lived in the shower because I had to pee every 5 minutes. But the infection went away almost immediately.
I also drank lots of cranberry juice, coconut water and plain water. Feel better!

if it becomes a reoccuring problem, i cannt recommend Ethical Nutrients – Urinary Tract Support enough. i swear it is a GOD!! i used to have a UTI every few weeks and i used to take “ural” or have to get antibiotics until the chemist recommend that i take 1 or 2 bottles of this stuff. i took 2 bottles and so far i havent had one in around 6 months. its the best thing that the chemist could have recommended to me

Aww that sucks!
Maybe its because of your recent “drought” down there and your use of artificial lubricant? =/
Hope you get better soon!

Get to a doctor and get some antibiotics for it ASAP. If you don’t, it can spread to your kidneys and cause all sorts of problems. Been there, done that. Not nice!

Yeah, have you been to a doctor, or are you just self-medicating? Most UTIs are E. coli based, and, obviously E. coli is bad for you. :P Usually, it gets in your intestines, and then it spreads through your vaginal area, crawls into your urinary tract and then it can go FURTHER and live in your bladder. When it lives in your bladder, it can come back over and over again. You need to kill the E. Coli so it doesn’t do that. For that, you should be using an antibiotic. :)

oh dear, huns are u taking antibiotics? because I have a friend who turned her UTI into kidney problems.
There are a few ways to “prevent” it from happening – drinking cranberry juice, some other methods and peeing within 15 min of having sex. LoL~

I’ve had them a few times in the last 6 months. Not fun. Drink A LOT of water continuously and it won’t be as bad.
Since, I’ve made it a point to make sure that I’m all dry down there ASAP after sex and I haven’t had problems.
It might be a result of your increased sex amounts mentioned… more chances to be too moist/whatever down there.

That does suck. :(
Unfortunately, I don’t have anything helpful or informative to offer, other than the water and cranberry juice advice sounds good. Good luck!

UTI’s suck, hope you get over it quick.
On the other topic, where is this restaurant? I have a hankering for Korean BBQ. :)

Ouch. UTIs are quite painful. Keep chugging that cranberry, and throw in plenty of water, too!

Oh man, I remember when I got a UTI for like NO APPARENT reason two years ago. The school nurse asked “are you sexually active?” when I went to the school sick bay with symptoms and CONSTANTLY needed to pee, like every two seconds – yet when I got on the loo nothing was happening. It burned. It stung. It was intense…. I feel your pain!
Get well soon! XD

UTIS FUCKING SUCK. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that. Take plenty of cranberry pills, drink lots of water, and avoid sugary stuff until the infection clears up. Cranberry juice also helps, but make sure it’s the juice and not the “cocktail.”
I don’t know what’s in the “cystitis relief” thing you got, but if you can get a form of phenazopyridine over the counter, it’s an analgesic that takes the pain and burning away until you can clear up your infection. I think you’re supposed to take it 3 times a day or somesuch. Warning, it turns your pee bright orange. Like, orange soda orange.

I used to get them all the time when I was 18/19. They SUCK. The first time I got one it was so bad that I was peeing out this really thick dark blood that felt like battery acid.
TMI? *changes name*

I’ve had what feels like constant utis since finding out I was pregnant 3 months ago and the ONLY thing that works for me is drinking loads of water, so when u need to pee you actuall have something to pee out which helps with the burning and the pain in your abdo afterwards, and also taking Ethical Nutrients UTI support. It’s a fricken godsend that stuff. When you feel it coming on, take 5 tablets 4 times per day… its all herbal, safe for the baby, and works within half an hour!!! Good luck :)
