2009 Resolutions
January 1, 2009 | Filed under Life
Following yesterday’s reflections on my 2008 resolutions, listing my resolutions for 2009 might spur me on to actually achieving them. Maybe.
- See more of Australia. I’ve only ever been in Melbourne, Sydney, the Gold Coast, and down the Great Ocean Road. I’d like to spend a weekend in another city (Adelaide? Brisbane? Perth?), or even a week road-tripping up to Ayers Rock.
- Get my savings account balance up to $20,000AUD. It’s currently at $15,000AUD (with $7,000AUD in another account), so I’d like to add $5,000AUD to the account within a year, while maintaining $7,000AUD in the second account.
- Get my eBay net earnings up to $6000AUDa year ($500AUD a month). This will be difficult considering recent developments, but with a bit of effort, it’s not undoable.
- Comment on a blog a day that lies outside of my usual blog circle. An actual comment with substance, rather than a “lol, I agree”, or similar. Some added exposure to this blog would be nice.
- Get a job. Whether this is a full-time job or a new part-time job, depends on whether I get accepted into the Masters courses I applied for – I should find out in a month. Either way, I need a new job, as I simply have to get out of retail and get some experience in other fields.
So, fewer resolutions than last year. Maybe it means that it’ll be easier to actually achieve them this time…

Great goals! I wish you the best of luck in achieving them. I think #4 is a really cool one. I think I might start doing that too, just for the fun of it.

Sounds good! I like all of these as resolutions, especially number one. Number four might be difficult unless you comment on blogs in general every single day.

I like your resolutions, they actually seem like ones that could be achieved, rather than when people make resolutions that they, and everyone else knows, don’t seem very likely in a years span or whatever.

I admire the first goal. I’m irked by travelers who fantasize about another continent when they’ve barely explored their own.

Well, I too want to visit more of Australia, or actually visit Australia! I don’t see it happening this year though, but maybe the next.
I count # 1, 2 and 5 as my goals this year too.
Good luck achieving yours, Amanda.
PS What do people call you? I mean friends…do they call you for instance “Manda”?
Reply: Just Amanda, or Manda if they’re getting lazy and can’t be bothered with the extra syllable. :P My cousins call me Aman. NEVER Mandy.
