Follow-Up
October 15, 2008 | Filed under Online
As per my usual habit, a follow-up on some previous entries.
- My mobile phone seems to be back to normal. The water evaporated from the screen over the course of a couple of days, and it’s working as per usual. Now, all I have to do is make sure I don’t leave it in the garden overnight again during a rainstorm…
- I qualify for less of a home loan than originally thought – on my current part-time income, I only qualify for a $80KAUD loan when I’ll need at least a $150KAUD loan for the most basic two-bedroom apartment (when taking into account existing savings, first home owner’s grant, and money my parents are willing to lend me for a home deposit). It’s depressing, and looks like it might take a bit longer than originally planned.
- I’ve decided to dress up as Sailor Mars to my Asian Extravaganza birthday celebrations. But of course, I don’t actually have a costume, nor am I willing to shell out $80AUD for one online. So, I’m going to making my own. As in, actually cutting a pattern and sewing. Mmhmm. Recipe for disaster.
- My charge is making excellent progress. She’s throwing less tantrums, and beginning to listen more to reason, in addition to her progress when it comes to toilet training and feeding herself.
- I’ve pretty much decided to apply for honours in two different disciplines (as I took two majors and my marks qualify me for both honours programs). This is in addition to the job applications that I’m still continually sending out…I’m trying to cover all my bases.
I think that’s about it, updates-wise, but if there’s anything I’ve mentioned in past entries that you want a further update on, feel free to comment and I’ll do my best to reply.
Also, this blog has passed a couple of milestones recently: 700 posts, 7400 comments, the first time it reached over 200 unique visitors a day (the usual figure is around 160 a day), and the highest ever figure for unique visitors per month as well (16,000 in September). At the risk of sounding soppy – thanks to everyone who’s made this possible.

I told you Sailor Mars was the best choice! Also, Sailor Mars is kick ass.
Asians in blonde wigs look WEIRD.

You can sew? Good luck with making your costume then :-) Incidentally, why not dress up as one of the Sailor Starlights (much schmexier costume ^.^;; )
Oh two honors? Congrats! Good luck with both of them :-)

Oh man, I really want to go as Sailor something for Halloween now! My hair is pretty short so maybe like Sailor Mercury or some crap. I wish I had time to make a costume, though. *sigh*

Show us your final product ;) Sailor Mars is cool, but I like Sailor Mercury better. Nonetheless Chinese fobs like red better, and obviously the best candidate is Sailor Mars :P

You’re welcome…I think. One among many, anyway.
Mobile phones are surprisingly resilient, and sewing is not nearly as daunting as it might seem at first.

Congrats on the milestones! :-D
Anywho… Sailor Mars? WIN! I dressed up as Sailor Moon once for Halloween… of course, that was eons ago. I should reprise my role this time around… only schmexier, hehe :P

I knew your phone would work! That sucks about the loan though =/
And good luck on making that costume! I can’t sew if my life depended on it. I tried to make a tank top for myself once but it ended up being too small and I had to add criss-cross lacing to the back… It ended up looking like a hooker’s bustier… So hopefully you’ll have better luck. Oh and congratulations on the milestones!

Yay for your blog! :)
Congrats on the milestones.

Wow, your stats are crazy! My blog doesn’t get too much traffic, but that’s okay. :) 700 posts is insane, but I guess if you blog every day it’s actually not so unfathomable!
Good luck with everything; it sounds like you’re busy!

I think home made costumes are the best. Every costume I’ve worn has been home-made (okay, so not technically home-sewn, but it’s still the basically the same since I’m cheap).
And I’m glad you’re applying for honours!
And yay for the blog milestones. That kind of stuff always makes one feel happy. And you should be proud, because you really do have an engaging blog!
