September 1 2008: It’s Halloween Soon, Right?

That can really be the only excuse for the amount of orange around these parts.

Still fixing up little quirks here and there. Criticise me and tell me I’m an idiot.

  1. You’re an idiot.

But I like this layout muchly. Only question is…where’s the pumpkin?

Reply: Hidden in a body cavity. ;P

  3. … the smilies kinda disappear against the background though.

Reply: Noted! Will hunt around for new ones.

  4. I like the nice and simple look! Can’t say much about the colour, though, since orange is not my favourite! But it suits this layout’s colour scheme nicely.

  5. I didn’t even think of the Halloween aspect. I am so behind. Anyway, I like it. ‘Tis very you. :P

  6. I would like it more if the comment background was a different shade of grey. I have issues with things like that though. :\ But yeah, it’s more edgy, which is cool. :)

    Reply: Added to the list!

  7. I LOVE YELLOW and grey, so you’re not an idiot :P And the orange compliments them well.

  8. I like it :) Though I will have to view it at home to get a better picture of it :P That’s where I do the most viewing xD

  9. Xuan: “where’s the pumpkin?”
Amanda: “Reply: Hidden in a body cavity. ;P”

    Ann’s first thought: “She’s pregnant”.
    I fail.

    Looks awesome though :)

  10. I suggest making the font size on the sidebar bigger :)

  11. Yellow and orange are my two favorite colors! I like it even if it seems Halloweenish. Though the yellow does seem a bit bright on the grey that you used.

  12. I (once again) like the simplicity of this layout, although the colors seem a bit ‘hard’ alltogether making it a bit cold. Maybe you can use a different shade of gray to make it a bit more warm instead.

  13. Orange is in! (Apparently). So you have nothing to worry about.

I really like this layout - it’s very unique!

  18. Hmmm..I’m gonna be honest.

I don’t think the dark gray in your comments areas and the black in your sidebar/menu goes with the background gray. Maybe if you used shades of a lighter gray instead it’d be nicer and it would look less halloweenish.

I would’ve made the sidebar wider, and organized the links. Perhaps removing the underline styling of the links would look better.

I’m also a sucker for symmetry, and I think the divs where the comments show (gray boxes with yellow borders) should equally wide as the main text. Right now there’s so much difference in widths, that it looks a bit unorganized.

I’d also add jing-wen under the Chinese symbols, cause…well, I don’t know why, but I’d do it. just my opinion.

The comment form is a bit too tiny . I’d place the links over each input field and make the text area wider, as mentioned.

There you go, I didn’t kill you, but I must be honest.
Have a nice day and happy blogging!

  19. I like this new design, nice and simple. I would also suggest making the font in the sidebar a bit bigger.

  20. Where I wrote “links” I meant Name/Email/Website etc…I was writing in a hurry.

    Regine on September 2 2008 #

  21. The design is simple. I have no complaints. If things overlapped, and if I had troubles navigating, I might say something. However, it is okay.

Just remember all the halloween freaks walking around everyday by choice. It would not be any different. ;) Sometimes almost as bad as people who dress up for anime conventions….some are a very sad sight.

  22. I’m finding the white on black in the comments a little hard to read since its rather glarey, but that might just be me. Otherwise, I like! You’ve got a nice colour scheme going on, not very usual, but lovely all the same.

  23. Wow. SO DARK AND ORANGE. Well I personally have always disliked the orange/yellow black combination so I can’t say much… but Halloween is your perfect excuse for as ridiculous orange black combination’s (wow… Firefox reckons there’s no word as combinations, without the apostrophe. I didn’t know that.) as you want, even though Australia doesn’t celebrate it, no matter!
