August 11 2008: I’ve Succumbed Again To Ebay

I’ve been a naughty girl again, spending much too much time on eBay over the past two months. On one hand, it’s things I can afford due to my increased babysitting income ($280AUD every Sunday in cold hard cash, on top of the $300AUD I already earn working two days in retail - not bad for a university student). On the other hand, it’s money I could probably save for, you know, actual things with lasting value. A home deposit for example, or a trip to Europe.
In any case, the money is spent, and I have bought (among other things):
- An aerochuting experience - $110AUD. w00t, parachuting in a chair!
- A day of pampering at an exclusive day spa - $125AUD. I blame this on Erin, as she suggested that I relax for once in my life.
- Lost Seasons 2 & 3 - $39AUD. A real bargain, Season 2 by itself is retailing for about $60AUD at Borders right now.
- My Chris Rock tickets - $150AUD. The experience and belly laughs were well worth it.
And, um, clothes. Lots and lots of clothes. But! All were semi-designer-branded clothes with tags, all at under $15AUD a piece (postage inclusive)…or less than 10% of its actual retail value. Seriously. They’ve mostly all been corporate items as well, so I feel like it’s an investment for my future working career. That’s my justification anyway, don’t try to tell me otherwise.
Lmao tsk tsk! Though I can’t be one to say anything, I’ve fallen into the eBay trap in the last two months too… I’ve spent around $200 - $250 that I don’t really have. Sigh. A lot have been regrettable purchases though.
The things you’ve bought sound pretty good though, worth the money.
And ooo bargain on the clothes. What have you been looking up for those?

Reply: Yeah, I came in February, it was pretty good. Just a few days though.

How many
monsterskids are you babysitting to earn $280 in a week? I just converted that to Philippine peso and got 11,000+, which is equal to my mom’s monthly pay.A moment. I’ll just close my mouth, which is currently hanging open as I write this. :p
Oh. Adrenaline. I’d probably faint while in the air if I were you. Did you enjoy it? How did it feel? Darn. Sucks to be an acrophobic. And the spa to relax is a good idea (of course, I don’t know jack squat about what happens there ’cause I haven’t been to one). Can’t be to uptight, can we?
We’re allowed to splurge from time to time. Especially when we have the money to flaunt. ;)
Reply: Oh, it’s just one kid, 8.30am to 10.30pm on Sundays. The parents are insanely wealthy. :)

Haha, I surely won’t tell you otherwise because I’d be doing the exact same thing as you are now, if I had that amount of cash on me. But instead of aerochuting, I’d buy lots and lots of food! :P Lol.
