March 29 2008: Off On Holiday…Again

Filed under Travel with 5 Comments

I’m off on holiday again.

Okay, not precisely this very second, but soon, very soon. I’ve booked some (very el cheapo - $98 per person return) plane tickets for myself and my aunt to go to Sydney again to visit my cousin (who’s on work placement up there) on the 31st of May, until the 4th of June. It coincides nicely with Xuan’s 18th birthday drunken celebrations, where we shall be getting crunk in a gay bar, because, like all fag hags, I love teh gheys and teh gheys love me because I am a gay man trapped in a luscious female body.

This time around in Sydney, I shall also be swimming with sharks, and perhaps taking a day trip to the Blue Mountains where I’ll do some mountain trekking. So if you hear any reports of busty Asian girls getting eaten by sharks, or falling off cliffs during that time? That’ll be me. Send your condolences by talking about how brilliant I am, and how the blogosphere won’t be the same without me.

And yeah, it has been pointed out to me that this little jaunt is in SWOTVAC, the short four day study period between actual classes and exams when I’m supposed to be studying, but heck, why not just take a holiday instead of sweating over thick textbooks, amirite?

In any case - Sydney bloggers! Shall we wreck havoc together on your lovely city?

March 27 2008: QOTW: Drive To Sing

Filed under Life & Media & Q.O.T.W. with 21 Comments

Driving home from work today, I was, as usual, singing along to the radio. And, just so we’re clear, nothing beats the commercial Top 40 stations for drive-friendly music especially when the drive time show is hosted by the two funniest guys in the world, both of whom I want to procreate with.

I know that I can’t be the only one who sings along to the radio, yet up till today, I’ve only ever noticed weird glances from people, along the lines of “Why the fuck is this demure-looking Asian girl singing about smacking it on the floor and liking the way you do me this?”. It, and pretty much anything to do with my personality, is totally at odds with the way I look. I’m pretty much the walking equivalent of seeing a toddler pushing crack.

In any case…singing along to the new song by Madonna and Justin Timberlake (”4 Minutes”) playing from my car speakers today, I casually looked over to the next lane when stuck in a traffic jam. The girl in the white Corolla next to me is singing along as well. I can see her lips moving in sync to the song. And when that part of the song comes up where Justin goes “Ma-donnaaaaa” with that little beat in the middle? We both did this head jerk/Bangles-esque “Walk Like An Egyptian” thing with the line, entirely in sync.

I feel like we really connected.

Question of the Week: Do you sing along to music in the car or in the shower? If so, what do you sing?

March 26 2008: I Am Actually Alive

Filed under Life with 7 Comments

Surprisingly, the sky didn’t fall on my head after I failed to post yesterday.

My dad’s operation went well. He’s recuperating nicely at home - though this does mean that I’m currently doing the work of two people until he gets well enough to start taking on more work again. Proof below:

The schedule for the next two days is pretty much identical. It’s tiring, I won’t lie to you - I’m currently averaging about four hours sleep each night because I’m kept awake by an overactive mind, constantly running over things that need to be completed the next day. But, I’m an optimist. Things can only improve.
