February 29 2008: Back To Mundanity
Well, I’m home.
It’s a slight letdown - I seem to somehow be seeing the world through different eyes post-New Zealand. There’s something about continuously throwing caution to the wind and putting your life in fate’s hands that changes a person. It’s hard to look death in the eyes, then come back to mundanity and the day-to-day toil.
I’m hoping this black mood will pass over fairly quickly. I hate feeling shit, and more importantly, I hate knowing that I’m making other people miserable by doing nothing other than complaining about “poor me” all the time. I simply don’t do self-pity - swallowing any misgivings and getting on with life is a much more practical method and one I’ve always lived by.
I will, fingers crossed, have gradual installments of the great tale of “My Trip To New Zealand, Exclamation Mark, Exclamation Mark, One, One, Tilde” coming over the next couple of days. Complete with photos of course, and perhaps short mini-videos of my bungee experience if I can get my camera to cooperate.
Until then, please visit the lovely people who I had the fortune of meeting whilst in Kiwi-land: Nellie, Rilla and Emily.

February 25 2008: I’m In Hamilton
I’m currently at Nellie’s house, using a mouse mat that’s nested between some buxom breasts. …okay, breasts belonging to the cartoon character printed on the mouse mat, but, eh, whatever.
I’m slightly intoxicated at the moment (blame Nellie and her propensity for encouraging me to intake copious amounts of Jose Cuervo, while also egging me on in approaching random strangers on the street). My cousin and his friends are playing poker with Sam, Nellie’s boyfriend, who I have on authority, is very well hung. Give me a couple of hours and I’ll find out. :D
To update you all on what I’ve been doing this past week:
- Bungee jumping
- Driving seven hours straight from one city to another
- Sleeping in an airport terminal overnight
- Canyoning (e.g. abseiling down rocks, diving into canyon pools, etc.)
- 2x luging
- Swimming with dolphins, with “swimming” meaning “standing on the boat whilst watching them but not swimming because it was too dangerous”
FYI, Nellie is very impressed with my ability to type and spell whilst intoxicated. I pwn her arse. Hard.
…I might update this post later on when I’m back in Melbourne, with photos of an intoxicated Nellie and I standing on the roof of her flat with our tops off, flashing all passing cars. We’ll see what happens.

February 20 2008: E noho rā
By the time you read this, I’ll be on a plane to New Zealand. Ah, the wonders of post-dating WordPress entries so that they can self-publish themselves in the future.
EDIT Feb 20: Well…that didn’t go according to plan. It was supposed to self-publish, but didn’t! I’m already in New Zealand, Queenstown to be exact. Bungee jumping was today (OH MY GOD), and I’m going canyoning the day after tomorrow.
Needless to say, entries will be few and far between between now and the 29th of February - that is of course, if I even post at all. I will be checking email sporadically, or whenever I can get to an Internet cafe, or when I reach Nellie’s place in Hamilton, so feel free to continue e-mailing me!
Have an excellent ten days, but for now, goodbye! Or, as the Maori would say: E noho rā!
