If there’s one thing regular visitors to this blog would know, it’s that I’m a cheapskate and I love cutting corners and saving money whenever possible. I’m certainly not one of those who would pay for convenience – I’d rather go out of my way and be inconvenienced while saving a few bucks, than the other way around.

That’s why when I received a brochure in the mail about community activities that a nearby (thirty minutes drive away) new residential development had planned, I almost wet myself with excitement. They list:

  1. A free open-air twilight screening of Hairspray (which I saw in October when it first came out)
  2. A free open-air twilight screening of Ratatouille (which I wanted to see when it first came out)
  3. ‘The Ego Has Landed’, a tribute show by a Robbie Williams impersonator (who I’d like to see next to me in bed)
  4. …as well as numerous other activities that don’t quite appeal to my age group, but which families with young children would love.

Two free movies and a free concert? How could I say no?!

  1. OMG I did that once! except that instead of the movies it was a dinner. It was soo good, they had duck, steak, salads, pasta, kids menu, a buffet, best free anything I’ve ever gotten.

Have fun! Jesus H. Christ, you’d better have fun – it’s bloody free.

  4. To see a movie in the open-air must be a really great experience, something I’d like to try out one day. Have fun with it.

  6. 30 minutes drive is not that far really… but would the money for fuel be less than money for movie tickets ;)?
