Eyesight Testing
December 19, 2007 | Filed under Family & Friends
I think it’s about time my brother had his eyesight tested. Whilst out driving today, he suddenly said: “Is that an emu?”
Because you know, emus run wild in the suburbs of Melbourne. In fact, I have three pet emus in my backyard. Really, I do.
In actuality, it was a guy wearing dark clothing with a large backpack crossing the road about fifty metres ahead of us that my brother had mistaken as the national bird of Australia. Is that not a good sign he needs to have his eyesight tested?
Of course, this doesn’t even take into account the time he thought a larger woman in a red T-shirt was a postbox…

Lol emu. Better bring him to have his eyes checked. My brother’s first checkup proved that he had really bad eyesight and he was only kindergarten at that time too!

“Because you know, emus run wild in the suburbs of Melbourne.”
Kinda like how polar bears run wild in Canada?

Here in the UK, you have to take a “driving theory” test before you can take your practical driving test. Part of this test is called “hazard perception” where you’re shown videos and you click when there’s a hazard.
I clicked because a lorry was pulling out of a junction (it’s good to spot hazards from far away apparently). When I got closer, turns out it was a house and a phone box.

Good, it’s about time the emus started taking over.
If he gets thick-framed spectacles at all, please post pictures.

What’s in the water over there? Maybe that’s what causing him to hallucinate ;)
But really – he should have his eyes tested… just to prevent him from mistaking your bed / room as the toilet

*giggle* Yeah, sounds like he should have his eyes tested. Though it must be funny to be around him if he keeps making mistakes like that.

Hopefully he thought the woman was a postbox from a distance and not while trying to mail something…

1: your national bird is amusing. I like it!
2: my mom frequently mistakes bales of hay in fields for animals like cows and buffalo. Cows, maybe. There’s no buffalo in Wisconsin, though…
And my mom wears glasses, so I think you’re probably right. Eyedoctor sounds like a good idea.

Lol, once my brother thought someone wearing black and walking a black dog was a barbeque in the middle of the street. And he already has glasses :P

LOL. well if I took off my contacts or glasses I wouldn’t be able to see anything either. but just the fact that he thought a man was an emu is too amusing.
