Breath-testing
November 27, 2007 | Filed under Life
This morning on the way to work (joy…),I was stopped by a police blockade, doing breath-testing on drivers. At nine o’clock in the morning. In a white collar suburb. Because you know, the large majority of people start hard-drinking at that time of the morning, on a weekday.
They’d be better off throwing up blockades in the later hours of Friday and Saturday nights. In my two or so years of driving, and five or so years of going out late at night, I’ve never been pulled over to be breathtested. Combine the two…well that’s a lot of potential “Young lady, please step out of the vehicle”, and “Ma’am, I’m going to have to ask you to surrender your driver’s license”.
Victoria Police, a word of advice. Do your job when it’ll matter most. Nine o’clock on a Tuesday morning doesn’t count as effective policing of the community.

Maybe those police officers had nothing better to do. And probably, they found the driver hot and had some police fantasies so they wanted to throw that at you ;P

I sometimes wonder why they are so stupid.
Last December 25th, I was with my boyfriend and his brother in Argentina, and we took a cab back home where we were staying.
The cops stopped us and made us all out of the taxi, checked our bags and stuff and touched us (you know when they’re checking if you carry something with you).
I got very pissed off, but the worst part was that while they were checking us, a cafe 100 mts behind us was being robbed at gun point. Plus, they didn’t check all cars, just taxis with foreign looking tourists. IDIOTS!

The CBC did a report that found that most people were still well over the legal limit in to drivei n Ontario the morning after, and as a result the police have started doing RIDE spot checks on the mornings after big party days.

And you’ll be surprised but they will probably still pull over people and have them hand in their license for DUI.
I agree though that they should do more checks on weekends but any check is good because it will probably take people off the road that shouldn’t be on it.

It seems like an unnecessary waste of resources – I guess not many crimes occur on Tuesday morning?

WA Police are worst, I am very dissapointed in WA police and have no faith in them anymore to help the community when help is needed…but thats another story.

Oh come on, Amanda, everyone knows the police in Australia are as bad as the notoriously fragile infrastructure. *nod*
I’ve never been pulled over, considering the police seem to go after learner drivers especially around my area, but the police around here have been known to do the same thing; concentrate on unlikely outcomes more than likely.
Blegh.
