November 7 2007: 7-11 Day
7-11 outlets across Australia today were giving away free small Slurpees if you approached them with “Happy 7-11 day!”. Geddit? 7-11 day? Seventh of November?
It’s a nifty marketing strategy, but so easily manipulated by cheapskates like me who decide to get their money’s worth, especially when the money they spend is a grand total of zero. Sure, there were limitations set along the lines of “one per customer, per store”, but when you have a number of 7-11 convenience stores close to your location, it’s hard to restrain yourself from abusing the system.
In total, I managed to score myself four free slurpees today: one just before my exam, one just after, one after picking my brother up from school, and another on the way home from the library. This is without having to make any detours to other stores; there just happened to be four 7-11 stores on the route that I had to take today.
My waistline may not forgive me tomorrow, but at least my tastebuds love me today.
And on another note, for Australians who want to score themself some freebies as well – register at the Krispy Kreme site (click on “Vote Here”) and you’ll get six free doughnuts the day after election day (that’s November 25th for those who are politically unsavvy).
Jingwen: Doing its best to bring free food to cash-poor students throughout Australia.

Hmmm slurpees yummy…
Your waistline seems fine to me…but hey as I say: “you only live once” (not that I believe that though…).

Awesome. I must admit that I didn’t get it, at first. I was thinking, “July 11th? It’s November!” That aside, at one point in time there was a Krispy Kreme a 3-minute walk away from me and they always gave away free donuts (i.e. if you walked in, you would get a free glazed one).

I got the “invite” but there are no 7-11s in the sticks!!

Ahahah that’s such a lame marketing stratagem, albeit all nifty-ness taken into consideration. -_- Still … slurpies … I should’ve gone to a 7-11 today. Damn!
KRISPY KREMES. You know I lover you, Mandz, yes? XD

Love love love Krispy Kreme. I remember it was almost Christmas and Krispy Santa was giving away free donuts to people and my whole family and I lined up for about more than 3 times to get lots and lots of free donuts. Haha.

I wish they had something like that here. I would probably travel around the whole city just to get some freebies :P
