QOTW: Making People STFU

September 10, 2007 | Filed under Money, Q.O.T.W., Style

Today is quite possibly the first time in living memory that my mother hasn’t bitched at me for going shopping. Generally, every time I come home with a purchase, she’ll have at least half an hour’s worth of lecturing to throw in my face. Today though? Nothing.

Of course, this may have something to do with the fact that today, I surpassed my own previous bargain-hunting expeditions.

I’ll let you do the math yourself. Ladies of Melbourne, get down to the Basement at the CBD Myer. You won’t be disappointed. (Seriously, I tried on everything that was on sale. I would have bought the lot…but these were the only items that looked super hot on me, that weren’t warped by my b00bies. If you’re a size 6-8, and have small b00bies, you’ll be in luck.)

Question of the Week: When have you managed to make someone bite their tongue/STFU?

  1. I’m too big for 6-8 and my b00bies are too big :( Oh, and I don’t live in Melbourne.

I make Michael STFU all the time :D

  2. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTT? 22.50 from 220?? That’s some sale you’ve got there.

As for the question: sadly never. I’m still struggling when it’s about clever things. I remember having once pushed a classmate so hard she fell, because she kept blackmailing me about a very intimate matter. hat was the first and last time I’ve ever seen her cry. I was around 12 or so.

I felt quite stunned and sort of proud, but then everyone went to her help… even though they knew she kept pestering me. *sticks out tongue* Life sucked even back then.

  3. OMG!! I love those bargains! Hey I’m a size 6 with terribly small boobs. But I’m too far away. :( Get some and send to me…

  4. Gahhh, I’m missing a fantastic sale, and all over the tiny detail that it’s in another continent! NoOoOooo. Ha ha.

I’ve had a few “getting-someone-to-stick-their-foot-in-their-mouth” moments, but I’ve had way more moments where it’s been necessary for me to jam in in and run away.

  5. Wow, I really need to go there. I’m size 6! AND I have small b00bies!

  6. Whoa. What cool bargains. It makes me jealous lol. But meh, I’m not that size.

Answer: I finally made my teacher shut up about my carelessness when I had a hundred for maths. whee :P

  7. It’s a shame I don’t live in Melbourne. Size 6-8 with small breasts is 100% me.

I have this look I give. It generally shuts people up.

  8. You have skillz in hunting down the deals. My mom would be jealous :P

I don’t think I ever get people to shut up, though.

  9. Maybe I should fly my little sister to Australia and let her stay there for a while.

I rarely notice when people shut up, mostly because I have this bad habit of not listening to them when they start talking.

  10. I envy you and your bargain hunting skills. Maybe you should come to Perth and find me some cheap stuffs :)

I always make everyone STFU. I just tell them to and they don’t argue. If they do argue, I pull out some STFU-skillz! and they soon back down.

  11. Bargain hunting isn’t really my forte, I find something that I like an no matter the price I buy it on instinct. Only very rare moments do I stop and consider. So I’m jealous of your bargain hunting skills :P

I can shut a person up if I give them a firm look or I raise my voice in a demanding submission tone – especially to my little brother…

  12. I am so jealous! :( If only I had known about this a few years ago…

The only time I can remember making someone STFU was during some ongoing internet drama between two blog owners I liked. I left a comment pointing out that one of the site owners could be the bigger person she claimed she was being, if she stopped regurgitating the argument publicly and tried to work it out privately. That was the last it was mentioned on her blog, and I even got an e-mail of support from somebody else!

  13. Oh wow, that was quite the bargain though. Very nice finds. And yes, I have made someone STFU. It was a glorious day. She is looked up to by all her little bandwagon lovers of the internet. But I (surprisingly) am the only one with the balls to shut her up.
