September 27 2007: To Survive Or Survive Not
Hast thou noticed that I’ve been posting more regularly than usual these past few days?
The reason is simple - I’m not going to have Internet access from tomorrow onwards. As the move has been delayed a week, it messed up my original plans. My current Internet plan runs out on the 28th of September (e.g. tomorrow). My new Internet plan at the new house is activated, only as we can’t move in yet, I can’t access it. Thus…no Internet access until I’m back at university on Monday. I’m viewing this as a survival exercise - moving in may be further delayed (next weekend is increasingly looking like it won’t happen) so I could be without regular Internet access for as much as two weeks.
I’ve booked myself out in an attempt to replace the presence of the Internet - I’m attending the third round of interviews for that internship tomorrow morning, will be seeing two movies with friends (Hairspray and Evan Almighty - I bought tickets off eBay!), will perhaps get around to writing that essay on Gandhi before its due date on Monday, and have borrowed “Being Frugal For Dummies” from the local library.
I’m interested to see whether this “…For Dummies” book can teach me anything about being frugal that I don’t already know. I’m not part of the stingy tight-arse Asian crowd for nothing.
But until Monday…fare thee well cherished visitor! I hope thou has a most delightful weekend!

September 26 2007: Speedy Footballer
I received my first speeding ticket today…or should I say, my father received my first speeding ticket. The car’s under his name, so although I was the one driving the car and speeding, the resulting fine was issued in my father’s name, with three demerit points to his name as well.
Needless to say, I’m not currently in the parental good books, though I’ve already paid off the fine.
I can only hope that the $220AUD goes towards a good cause…like improving the road that I was caught on. Why would you put a speed camera on what is essentially a rural dirt road where there’s hardly any cars? That money better go towards paving that road with tarmac!
And in another first for today, I finally saw the love of (one of) my teen years in person.
Whilst at the bank today, cashing a cheque for a measley $19.10 (eBay payment…don’t ask), I found myself staring at the back of the head of the man in front of me in the line. It seemed…strangely familiar.
Then he glanced around casually, and I gawped. Kind of like how I gawped when I met semi-famous retired footballer. Which isn’t surprising really, considering that the aforementioned guy with the familiar head was in fact, another semi-famous retired footballer who I spent one year obsessing and fangirling over when I was fourteen, doodling his name on my journal with love hearts, wedding rings, and condoms. The object of my adolescent love, right there, in front of my eyes, his tight buttocks calling to me, saying “Amanda…get out your whip…I have handcuffs at home”.
Oh Ben Dixon. What I would have done to have had the courage to jump your bones right there in the bank queue. Call me. Please?

September 26 2007: Review: Risque
Please note that I am writing this as a guest reviewer for Rhiannon as she has an insane number of people waiting for a review. Help a girl out!
Reviewing: Sarah of Risque
First Impressions
Your layout! It’s fluid! Your text! It’s readable! Your navigation! It’s clearly marked! Your content! It’s not generic! This review’s going to be easy on both of us. I can already tell that your coding is generally up to scratch, and your spelling is top-notch too, so the points I have to make are minor adjustments to improve aesthetics, semantics, and organisation.
Basically, you’re off to a flying start. If this was the Olympics, I’d give you a gold for effort. Huzzah!
