How To Cover Up A Hickie
August 1, 2007 | Filed under Body
Sometimes, fooling around with someone can lead to marks on your body in incredibly obvious places. Your neck for example.

It’s all very well and good when you’re still in bed, but when you’re out of it and realising that, shit, you have work tomorrow, and shit, you have to go home tonight and face your incredibly strict and traditional Asian parents? It’s not so good. And thus, you have to come up with solutions to hide the results of six hours of sex.
You can always try and hide it with makeup.

The only problem is, the shade of foundation or concealer that you use on your face may not necessarily match the shade of skin on your neck – I know that I’m about two shades whiter on my face than I am anywhere else on my body. Also, no matter how many layers you slather on, a truly fierce hickie won’t let itself be covered.
So really, there’s no option other than this:

Wear a scarf for the next few days, and pretend you have a cold and a sore throat. And pray hard that no one sees the marks on your boobs as well.

6 HOURS OF SEX?! Amanda… you disgust me. :o
Anyway. Good tutorial(?) lol. Though I get excema on my neck and sometimes it just looks like a hickie anyway, so it wouldn’t make a difference

That must have been fantastic….The boy must be a stallion or something…

Lol why not just go to work with it?
Reply: I work with pregnant women…wouldn’t want them getting jealous that I’m getting action while they’ve got a fat stomach. :P

lol, I have skin problems too (where it’s incredibly itchy and I couldn’t help myself but scratch, then damage the skin and leave a mark) so it could be mistaken for hickies. That’s the excuse I rely when people ask!

See, my advice would’ve been to ‘accidentally’ have a boob falling out so everyone would focus on that and not the neck. I think distraction is better than a cover-up and if I had boobs I’d certainly be using them!
Then again… I see you have been!
I swear this website is becoming more and more raunchy every day

Scarves are awesome unto themselves.
Regarding your comment above, who said you can’t have sex when pregnant? I haven’t heard of hickies (neck or boob ones) affected developing foetuses. :P
Reply: Have you ever seen Knocked Up? There’s this hilarious scene in it where the guy refuses to keep having sex with her because he can feel the baby kicking when he’s doing her from behind. :P

I shall keep that in mind, although I haveth verily no boobs to be marked. I like your strategy it’s very efficient. Go the scarf.
And kudos to that guy, too. Italian Stallion, perhaps? Big Brother had absolutely NO influence on what I just said.

More impressive that the “STALLION” is a chick who can go for 6 hours without an excuse…. Try this…rub a tea bag over the hikkie. It might help to lighten it and tone down the colour..Belive me, it works.
Reply: A used teabag, or a new one?

Wow that is a lot of time, you lucky girl ;)
That mark just shows off how lucky you are =D

Ouch. That looks painful. Is it? :P

Hickeys have no chance by me. Good!
Six hours? Nice. I’m kaputt after one and want my peace after that :) The lover wants to cuddle – me not so.

You’re lucky it’s winter in Australia. What would you do if it were around 30 degrees? Still pretend you got a cold? :P

Six hours of sex?!?! I’m in such a bad shape I probably couldn’t do that :P
I’ve actually never had a hickie :O
Reply: Oh, I can barely walk today, so I’m in really bad shape too. :S

My mom always told me to apply toothpaste onto it. It didn’t work at all. It was stingy though :(

Amanda, have I ever told you how much I love the diversity of your entries? I swear you blog about anything and everything, you’re a crazy woman!
Matt on August 2, 2007 #
That would not work in a tropical country :P Makeup (especially when applied anywhere other than the face) tends to wear off faster, too, because of sweat.
But that’s completely beside the point! 6 hours?! I be jealous *sulks*

lol what a great idea! however, my boyfriend knows NOT to leave a mark in such visible places. Inner thighs are his forte! *wink*

hahahaha…well those who play violin actually get something we (well at least my orchestra) called “the violin hickie” where the part of your neck that the violin is up against…if you’re someone who plays a lot, the mark eventually becomes permanent. One year there was an orchestra member who came to school with a very dark hickie…unfortunately he was a cellist..so he couldn’t use that excuse :P

On your boobs? Er… why? Are you prancing around in a bathing suit? Or are people around you THAT inquisitive?
By the way, why does your workplace care that much if you have or not hickeys?
Vera on August 2, 2007 #
Not that I’m an expert or anything… but :P I know a way to get rid of hickeys lol
but what you should do is get a lipstick tube on the side with the hole and twist it hard onto the hickey, it displaces the blood and makes the colour less obvious. Then put a bad of ice or peas or something similar on it to reduce it even further. It really works :D

Argh. It screwed up my url. There – it’s fixed.

I do the exact same thing you do – use a scarf :) And you’re right that it’s very hard to use makeup to cover the entire thing, since the shades are never quite right. High collared jackets (and shirts, I suppose) – are also a nice idea.
And depending on the area, you could always use a bandaid :D

Got here through misteryosa’s blog :-)
What I usually do is put lots of concealer on it. Yeah, I did buy a particular shade just for it. Haha. At least it isn’t too obvious. But wearing a scarf is obvious. I’d say go to work with it covered with concealer.

a new one dipped in boiling water for bout two minutes…Let it cool, drain it and apply for about ten minutes. It works wonders….

Skivvies/turtlenecks do the trick too. God – where do you find these guys? You gotta tell me T_T~ I’m in a bit of a dry spell here.
