July 10 2007: 80%
Apparently now it’s 80% certain that we’re going to move.
I’m definitely going to have to cut my wardrobe down even more dramatically - I’ve seen the wardrobes at the new house, and even considering the renovations we’re planning (kitchen, wardrobes, bathroom, flooring), my clothing definitely isn’t going to have to fit in them. My queen size bed will probably dominate the room as well - and I have no idea how I’m going to fit my two bedside tables, mirrored dresser, desk and bookcase in the room.
Time to sell some more things on eBay I think - I’m going to have to quit my job, and will need all the extra money I can find to fall back on in the leaner months ahead. Not only will I have no steady personal income without a job (I can get casual one-night-only jobs waitressing at engagement parties, weddings, etc.), but my parents predict that we’ll be on $30,000 a year for the whole family for the next two years, at least until they build up their own cleaning business.
Fun times ahead for all…

Too much closet space is a problem too because then you never throw something out leaving you with costumes for all the 70′ 80′ and 90′ parties ahead.

Oh, boy - that sounds pretty tough :/ But you never know, a curse could always be a blessing in disguise, right? And sometimes, getting rid of your wardrobe can be relaxing - you feel like you’re cleansing alot of bad karma. Hopefully you can find a new job that pays pretty well wherever you’re moving, though!

Eep, sounds tough. But coping and excelling and getting a good job is never out of scope. Best of luck, Amanda. =]

What everyone else said. :) But I’m sure with the experience you’ve got now you can get another job nearby, or at uni?

I know how you feel. I’m moving to Singapore in less than 2 weeks, and I haven’t even started packing yet. I’m starting to freak out :P I have to leave most of my stuff, because of airline baggage limits. I might have some of my other stuff shipped once I find a job and an apartment.
Good luck to both of us!

Moving is exciting, but the problem you have can be a pain in the @ss, other than having to pack the stuff and all that comes with it, all else is pure joy!
Have fun (if that’s possible) and good luck!

Oh dear, that sounds… fun?
Why don’t you sell your clothes on ebay too, rather than donating them?
I mean, I realize that it’s “the right thing to do” to donate, but if you need the money, well… lol Ebay is good for that.
Reply: Yeah, I’m doing that. :P I started selling off little odds and ends a few weeks ago - CDs, videos, old clothes (from my teenage years), etc. I might have to graduate to selling off some things that I like, but don’t love now…

I don’t know how you’re going to manage it. :|

Sounds tough, but at least you don’t have any unrealistic expectations! And selling things you don’t really need on eBay so that you’ll fit into your new space is a really good idea :)

Ooh, I love going through my closet (Although that might just be weird old me). I love it when I find old clothes that are too small for me to fit heheh, brings back memories. :P Or even old clothes that still do fit me! Anyways, yeah. Good luck, though.

It will be tough for a little while but maybe you’ll find a new job sooner than you think. Or is moving out not an option for you? Living in the area you do now and keep your job etc?
Reply: I thought about that actually, and did a few sums in my head. Unless I find a room for $70 a week with some friends in my area (near impossible, the average rate of a room would be about $120), I won’t be able to cover the utilities, food, and transport. My job pays well…but not that well…and I am a part-timer anyway.

Good luck! You know, you might find a wardrobe holds more than you think - my mum has a seemingly endless supply of clothes, and a tiny wardrobe. :)
