July 31 2007: House of Supre

Today, I saw the best T-shirt ever invented by a crappy pre-pubescent ho’s fashion chain store.

Supre is one of those stores, aimed at those who have no imagination or fashion sense, and who blindly follow any trend that’s set out in magazines like Dolly, or Girlfriend - trends that are worn by the likes of the Olsen twins (worst dressed celebrities evah, imho). But walking past one of their many chain stores today, I saw a printed T-shirt that I was actually tempted to fork out $20AUD for.

$20AUD! One and a quarter hours worth of work! For a T-shirt made of dubious quality fabrics that would probably pill and stretch in the washing machine after three washes. It must have been something special right?

It's All About House T-shirt

It was. After all, it’s all about House dontcha know?

I get that the T-shirt’s referring to house music…but c’mon, how could house music overshadow the lusciousness of Gregory House and his team of diagnosticians?

July 31 2007: Steal My Thunder

Gosh, y’all stole my thunder. First, you all get it right (and with logical reasoning too!), then one of you steals my idea of explaining it with a Venn diagram.

So, to save me from having to explain it, I’ll just steal Tracey’s Venn diagram (which is incidentally, the exact thing I drew to explain it to my brother).

Venn Diagram of solution

So, kudos to people who gave reasoning (for the people who commented late and didn’t give reasoning or those who gave up - you guys suck and get no plugs! :P): Tracy, Rilla, Chantelle, Marilyn, Vera, Tracey, Tam, Julianne, Skye, Josh.

And in a bit of totally unrelated news, happy birthday to Harry Potter! (July 31st today!)

July 30 2007: QOTW: Fifth Grade Maths

My brother received his marks for the Australasian Maths Competition today - a Distinction, which is admirable when viewed alone, but which pales in comparison next to the consistent High Distinctions I received for the same competitions at his age. Nevertheless. Let not the fact that I pwn him in every which way detract from his achievements.

In any case, he got four questions wrong in the exam - and analysing his results at home, he still couldn’t figure out how to reach the correct answer for one particular question. I figure it out instantly of course (brain that I am), though neither of my parents could understand it.

So today, I ask you the question, and provide you with several options for the answer. If you can figure it out (and provide a reasoning for how you came by your answer, not simply the answer itself), you get plugged in tomorrow’s entry. Bon chance!

Question of the Week: Twenty people were surveyed at a sports centre. Five people played both squash and tennis. Eight people did not play squash. Eleven people did not play tennis. How many people did not play either squash or tennis? (A:1, B:3, C:4, D: 7)
