June 26 2007: Men In Uniform
While a couple of family friends are out of town, I’m looking after their house. Collecting mail, pushing garbage bins out to the curb for the garbage truck etc. It’s been pretty breezy and easy work for the past week or so - I just drop by their house on my way home from work. However…imagine my surprise when I get there this afternoon to collect the bins, only to find that the garbage bin isn’t there. It’s gone. It’s disappeared. It’s been stolen. Whatever the fate of the bin is, one thing is clear - I’ve just officially been handed my big challenge as a house-sitter.
I flounder about uselessly for a few minutes - walking ineffectually up and down the street in search of the renegade bin. It’s nowhere to be seen so I decide to go by the police station to report a missing bin.
I get there. I open the car door. I step out. I go into the police station. I’m in heaven. Buff men in uniform? I try hard to contain my drooling. I simper and flutter my eyelashes at the officer who comes over to take the details down. He is certifiably drop dead gorgeous - all big and bulky and muscles and blond and tanned and *falls over*. Let’s just say that he can put me in handcuffs anytime he wants…and throw away the key!
And if you think that was TMI, imagine what happens when I walk into a group of firefighters.

I have never run into an attractive police officer here in the States. No Fair.
The firemen here are ok, but I think that our rescue workers/EMTs are the best of the lifesaving men genre.

Um… I hope something catches on fire, so you can go see some firemen? :D

But the thing is: did you actually manage to get what you went for, or did you snag yourself a date? :P

I definitely prefer firefighters to policemen. Because some policemen are mean :(

Did you have the strenght to stop drooling for a little while to report the bin missing or did you forget about that as soon as you walked in ;)
Also, did you check with the neighbours, they might have taken the bin in and put it on their space because they knew the neighbours were on holiday?

Oooh firefighters or policemen… You can’t forget doctors in there! And army personnel… I love khaki. Anyway, I’d probably go for policemen over firefighters, as they have more powers. I’m also going to shut up now. :)

What’s the point in men in uniform? It’s just extra fuss to take off ‘em.. too much hassle! ;)

I would have felt stupid going to the police stations to report a missing bin, but it is kind of a sensible thing to do when you think about it.
If I was in the situation, I would have probably rang the council asking for another bin.

Is it all right for me to sit here and drool? Yes? Good. *grabs bucket* Should I come down to Melbourne now?
