June 21 2007: Buttery Chocolate and Banana Sandwiches

WARNING: The following recipe is not recommended for anyone who has - 1) high cholestrol, 2) high blood sugar, 3) anything but exemplary health. This is not a joke. I am fully serious.

Serves one person with a healthy appetite and a sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  1. Four large thick slices of white bread. White bread. None of that healthy brown wholegrain stuff.
  2. 100gms of salted, high-fat, cholestrol-enriched butter
  3. Four tablespoons of powdered chocolate (e.g. Milo, Ovaltine)
  4. One large ripe banana

Method

  1. Slather all four slices of bread with butter thickly. Very thickly. If you can see the bread, you’re not putting enough butter on.
  2. Sprinkle a tablespoon of powdered chocolate on each slice, spreading it to cover the whole slice. The butter should stick most of the chocolate to the slice.
  3. Chop banana up into slim slices, and place on the four slices to your discretion. Make a smiley face with them on each slice if you want.
  4. Stack the four slices into one large four-slice sandwich, making sure that the chocolate and banana are contained safely and won’t fall out during consumption.

Best served with a high-fat chocolate and banana flavoured milkshake, perhaps followed up with a chocolate tart for dessert.

  9. This reminds me of that one episode of the Simpsons. The one where Homer is a food critic, so all the chefs band together to kill him with a dessert so fatty that it’s deadly. You are crazy. :P

  14. I will definitely try that. Buyt are you sure you mean salted butter? mmm… anyway, if you like this I bet you’ll also like chunks of butter dipped in sugar. :)

  15. I like things sweetened, but that recipe sounds disgusting. Maybe I’d consider trying it if the chocolate was a spread (like Nutella) instead of a powder.
