June 30 2007: QOTW: Flat Tyre

As my dad picks me up after work today (a rare luxury! I’m usually left walking 20 minutes to the nearest tram stop), we hear a flapping sound - almost as though the car wheels are rolling on a flat tyre. He pulls the car over and gets out to inspect all four tyres, and scratches his head, confused. They’re all in perfect condition.

I roll my window down and stick my head out. “Dad,” I say. “Look up”.

He looks up and sees a helicopter circling above. Its propellers are making a loud, consistent flapping sound…almost like the sound of a flat tyre.

So (because I missed it this week), Question Of The Week: Have you ever made a fool of yourself by mistaking one thing/person for another?

June 29 2007: The Chan Clan

I spent a large proportion of last night translating “yo mama” jokes for my father. He loved it.

Yeah, that’s the type of humour that we of the Chan clan (ha, alliteration!) have. We laugh when someone burps. We stick our feet in other people’s faces (my brothers nostrils will never be the same after having my toe up it). We run over to the nearest family member, sit on them, fart, and then run off giggling.

And people wonder why I don’t function in polite society…

June 28 2007: Woe

WTF with the downtime for the past few hours? WTF mate?

I’ve been so lost for the past few hours. I’ve downloaded about a hundred songs *cough* legally *cough* (Hello Amy Winehouse discography!), spammed LiveJournal communities, and bid on too many things on eBay that I really don’t need and shouldn’t have bid on. If I ever needed proof that I quite literally need my own domain, the past few hours has proved it. Without my blog, I clearly murder my bank account, break the law, and annoy a heck of a lot of people.

And in other, sadder, news: bad news clearly comes in groups of three.

  1. The wedding date has been set for December
  2. As a result, I’ll probably give up going overseas this summer so I can spend that little bit more time with her
  3. My best guy friend’s dad has been diagnosed with prostate cancer

Could life get any better?
