May 29 2007: Camouflage, ‘Fashion Police’ Style

As an official representative of the Official League of Fashion Police Officers, I hereby declare it punishable by law to wear two different types of camouflage prints together. Under no circumstances can one wear Auscam as the print on their combat pants, then team this with Flecktarn as their T-shirt print, as worn by the poor speciman of man I saw today. Any variation of these prints (any issue, from any country) is strictly prohibited.
It is permitted to wear one of these prints in one piece of clothing as a signature item to brighten up a plain outfit - e.g. a pair of combat pants, a cute army print beret, or a bomber jacket. One is the maximum permitted number. One such outfit may be:
- Low-riding plain khaki cargo pants
- White tank top, artfully ripped
- Chunky tribal bangles
- Hair in braids
- Aviator-style sunglasses
- Auscam print cap
Let this message be heard far and wide, for all to hear and take heed.

It’s gotten to that stage of the year where I:
- Add an extra blanket to my bed and pray that I won’t wake up with frostbite
- Refuse to leave the house unless I’ve got three layers on
- Permanently have black woollen fingerless gloves on (so I can type properly)
- Don’t bother to wax my legs
- Invest in a new patterned umbrella to match my latest favourite outfit
- Search in vain for that perfect thick woollen cardigan that doesn’t empty my bank account
- Drink tea instead of water because heck, tea warms a person up
- Dig my Ugg boots out of hibernation to wear around the house (never out!…unless it’s minus degrees outside and my toesies are about to fall off)
Yes, winter is back with a vengeance. Melbourne has been deluged under a torrent of rainfall in the past few weeks, and while we certainly need it as our water reserves are bordering on empty and we’re facing a water shortage crisis, it does send shivers up my spine. Not in the metaphorical sense either. So…

I really shouldn’t be blogging when the only thing that happened to me today was the fact that I bought six packs of Libra tampons because they were on special at only $2.99 each. $2.99! Each! This is a momentous occasion! This will keep me going through two cycles!
On a side note, why is a tampon called a tampon? I looked on Wikipedia, but it didn’t explain the origin of the word ‘tampon’. Does anyone know?
In happier news, I was finally approved by TFL for the Spice Girls fanlisting. I’d been rejected for this fanlisting twice before (once by the network, once after the previous owner didn’t get back to me with the members list after asking me to take over the fanlisting…), so it was especially sweet to be approved this time around.
I am diligently procrastinating from writing two essays. Huzzah!
