May 31 2007: Girl Love

I just figured out what I want for my birthday. Or, you know, for any occasion really. A random present for no particular reason would be nice. To Real Life people who read this blog (P, Allie, Robert, Sulynn, Scottie, my mother, anyone else?) - yes, that is an incredibly blatant hint. You know what to do.

I’ve owned the Spice Girls movie “Spiceworld” on videotape since the age of ten. However, due to repeated viewings every other month, the video quality has rapidly deteriorated. I can’t complain though - it has provided me with ten years worth of incredible happiness and Girl Power joy.

But, because of the now-poor quality of the video, I need a new copy of the movie - preferably in DVD format. That should provide me with another ten years of quality viewing! Alternatively (or in addition?) of course, I’d welcome a tape/DVD of the performance of the Spice Girls in Istanbul. I remember watching the performance on TV when it aired at the peak of their popularity. I also recall that it was aired again just a few weeks later because of the sheer numbers of people who tuned it.

If you do decide to be incredibly generous and buy me a copy, just email me at acchamanda at gmail dot com, and I’ll give you the address to mail it to. Of course, it’ll help if I kind of vaguely know who you are, just so I can make sure it’s not some wicked scheme by a potential stalker to find out where I live. Yes, I am referring to you Paddy.

And in other totally unrelated news, Timbaland’s “Shock Value” album is the best thing since sliced bread and sex toys. Go download/buy it.

ETA: The TFL-approved Spice Girls fanlisting is now up and running. :)

  1. I certainly hope someone will indeed find the Spice Girls movie for you on DVD. I have never seen it (should be punished) - but also I am hoping you won’t know what to do with more than 10 copies (you have plenty of fans) so if you get one to spare I would be delighted to receive and watch!

  3. Being that I’m a pirate, I am going to send you a copy of my copy.

I burnt it to DVD from my video copy, so it’s not all that fantastic quality but it may tide you over until someone can get you a decent copy.

Expect it in the mail soon!

Reply: Eeee thank you so much darl!

  5. I would have never figured you were a Spice Girls fan. I used to like them as well, but since I’m mostly rather superficial when it comes to liking a certain pop band/pop music in general… I quickly got tired of them.

I didn’t see “Spiceworld” though. I wanted to, unfortunately my parents’ and my opinion on what’s worth differ… drastically. Hope you’ll get the movie :)

  6. I wish vhs would last… I lost all my childhood favs :[. And the DVD versions have been altered! So dumb!

Hope you get your spiceworld replaced soon ;D.

  7. I finally got it today. I only listened to the first half before I got really dizzy and needed to turn it off. As soon as my body recovers from surgery I will be all up on that album in my iTunes like a cheeseburger lover on a cheeseburger.

  8. Spiceworld ftw! I’ve been a SG fan from when they started out. Heard “Outer Space Girls”, the B side on the Too Much CD single?

  9. oh dear, spice girls… I forgotten you are such a fan of them. I really can’t put my head around it but hey, to each it’s own right :)

I hope you find someone crazy enough to spend the money on that ;)
