$2.99

May 28, 2007 | Filed under Body, Online

I really shouldn’t be blogging when the only thing that happened to me today was the fact that I bought six packs of Libra tampons because they were on special at only $2.99 each. $2.99! Each! This is a momentous occasion! This will keep me going through two cycles!

On a side note, why is a tampon called a tampon? I looked on Wikipedia, but it didn’t explain the origin of the word ‘tampon’. Does anyone know?

In happier news, I was finally approved by TFL for the Spice Girls fanlisting. I’d been rejected for this fanlisting twice before (once by the network, once after the previous owner didn’t get back to me with the members list after asking me to take over the fanlisting…), so it was especially sweet to be approved this time around.

I am diligently procrastinating from writing two essays. Huzzah!

  1. When they’re on special, does that mean that there may be something wrong with them? :P Just trying to freak you out into writing your essays.

  2. “Tampon” is a French word meaning “pad” or “stopper”.

  3. It comes from French word “tampon” that means simply a plug.

I’ve been thinking I should get a menstruation cup (if you translate that straight from Finnish it’s mooncup). Cycles only thing I hate being a woman.

  8. I looked it up for you and even if others have answered your question… I’m gonna answer it anyways.

“ORIGIN mid 19th cent.: from French, nasalized variant of tapon ‘plug, stopper,’ ultimately of Germanic origin and related to tap .”

    There you go!
