May 8 2007: Emo Spidey

So, I watched Spider-Man 3 last night. The movie itself was pretty good, but unfortunately, the only thing that I kept thinking about was how emo Peter Parker looked when he was black Spider-Man. The picture on the right is a bad example of the extent of the emoness…but if you compare it to Peter in the first Spider-Man movie, you can see the difference.
I mean, was it just me, or did it look wrong for Tobey Maguire to wear black eyeliner? Surely the makeup team could have done something to make him look less emo, and more baaaaad? Looking the way he did, I just expected for him to start whinging about the futility of his life and to start slitting his wrists…not to start kicking Venom’s arse.
The amount of the emo makes me cry.
For those who didn’t get the joke…two guys were having sex. When two guys have sex, there’s generally the dominator and the receiver. The dominator deposits semen in the receiver’s anus. The receiver went to the kitchen to get something to eat. He farted. The semen came shooting out. The end. :P

The emo parts were hilarious, I agree looking like a Connor Oberst wannabe (or whatever the hell his name is) isn’t actually evil looking. But I thought the whole dance and attitude was camp humour at its best.
But overall I hated this film. I just thought it was a big ol’ mess.
And I really liked the first ones too.

I thought it was very brave of them to do something that awkwardly hilarious! It definitely made me squirm to see how nerdy, quiet Peter Parker looking like that but I thought it was fabulous. JAZZ CLUB SCENE!

Is it wrong that I actually never understand jokes without an explanation, but I got this one? I’ve never been a Tobey McGuire fan but he… looks better with that nerdy look. It’s quite cute.
I still have yet to see the movie; I’m planning on having a family outing.

I haven’t seen it yet but I keep hearing about how emo he looked! I bet it wasn’t just the eyeliner but I mean, look at his hair!
Oh, and I was hoping you’d explain the joke. I’m usually good with getting sexual jokes the first time I read them… but I missed the “two guys having sex” part. lol. Thanks for explaining! haha

Argh, I found him quite annoyingly sexy with the emo look. Though I did say “nice eyeliner” to my boyfriend as we saw him first get emo-y. He replied back with “eeeeee-moooooo” :P

I thought he was kind of sexy until he walked down the streets shaking his pelvis and pointing at everyone. I’ve got to say though, I liked the little hair flick. Too bad Harry Osborn’s smirk and that comment about the pie totally pwned Tobey Maguire’s attempt at looking bad-ass.

i think if they were trying to make him look hard then yea he should really lose the emo hair but when me and my friend went to c the film we couldnt help but think that it makes him kinda fit. loved the movie though.
