April 17 2007: Technology-fied

In light of recent shocking events, I feel as though I should write a serious entry today - perhaps condemning a society that allows people easy access to firearms, contemplating the state of the mental health care system, or grieving for the thirty three people who lost their lives.

However, Jingwen doesn’t do seriousness. Seriousness is left to be debated inside my incredibly convoluted mind. Sorry.

Instead, you can be comforted by the knowledge that I am being increasingly technology-fied. Not only do I have a brand spanking new iPod, but I also upgraded my phone today after two years of owning something that was large enough to have doubled for a weapon, had I ever been attacked down a dark alley. Now I have a sexy pink LGU310. It’s not as sexy as the MotoRazr V3xx which I originally wanted, but which was too expensive. Woe.

And in other technology news, I’m getting a laptop in the next week or so. No more 800×600 and Internet Explorer for me!

Basque Dress Nautica Bikini Top

P.S. University was cancelled today because of electricity blackouts. I went shopping instead, and bought a dress, and bathers too for a grand sum of $20. w00tle!

ETA: FYI, the items I bought. The red dress is made of chiffon and silk, from Basque, RRP$159.95, bought it for $10 (sash not included). The bikini top pictured (comes with bottoms!) is from Nautica, the set was RRP$179.95, got it for $10. Staid, but practical. Both purchases made at Myer…I love department stores.

  1. How the hell did you do that? It’s hard enough trying to find bathers and a pair of shorts for guys under $20…

Vinnies? Vinnies have the best clothes… Just gotta make sure I wash ‘em first!

Sexy phone. It’s not quite as sexy as my torso, but it’s sexy all the same. I also considered talking about said topic; but I’m hopeless with political bullshit and current affairs so I just stay out of it and occasionally go ‘Ohhhh.. aww.. oh no’. It’s pretty damn fucked up though.

PS. Ever been to Bimbo’s? And the place across the road? I’m seeing the letter ‘B’ as to what street its in. Possibly Brunswick? But they were the first two places I ever got into underage using a fake ID. hehe

Reply: Myer last-pickings-of-the-end-of-summer-sale. :) Great bargains!

The flavoured vodkas at Bimbos are excellent…love the lychee the most. Their gourmet pizzas are great too. Yum yum.

  3. I need to go to Melbourne and do some shopping! lol

The LG is soo cute and you’re better off with it because although the Razr is a cute phone it sucks balls in terms of a good quality phone.

  4. Man I’m always so amazed when people like you find such amazing bargains at Myers. My offline friend too snag really amazing deals from Myers too. I guess it’s both luck and frequency of browsing through those stores?

  5. I recently retired a humongous phone (Nokia 3650), too! My “new” phone is a pink MotoRazr V3, a barely used hand-me-down from my mom’s ex-boyfriend’s daughter (no joke) :P

  6. My boyfriend and I have friends at Vtech. Yesterday was a horrible day of accepting cell phone calls in the middle of class to make sure people we knew were okay.

Sounds like a good shopping day for you. :-D I really love that red dress. It is gorgeous! It looks fantastic on you.

  7. The shooting is a sad event. It’s just scary that shooting occurred out of the blue. I want a new phone too! Mine’s huge, is a Motorola and is 8 years old. The red dress is beautiful. And congrats on getting a new laptop *soon*

  8. My mobile is also a size of a brick but it comes with a great contract (free minutes, text messages, and £4 worth of downloads per month) and is one of those, “all-singing, all-talking, all-doing” mobiles. It’s an ol’ faithful and I can’t bear to part with it. (And, of course, it helps because it’s pink.)

I’m ignoring the gorgeous dress because it’ll make me scream, “WHY DOES MY TOWN HAVE SUCH BAD SHOPS?!”

  9. I will never for the life of me understand how some people–like you– can find such amazing deals when shopping. I can hardly find anything I like, much less anything that inexpensive! Your dress is very lovely, by the way! :)

  10. How the f*ck did you buy that dress for a tenth of the retail price? When was it originally on the shelf? Must have been ages to go if you could it for $10, but it’s a timeless classic. You can wear it no matter what the current trend is. And I just love that red, it would look so good on me… :-P

Reply: Yeah that’s the thing, I wouldn’t have bought it if it was some hideous easy-come-easy-go trend. But…you can’t really go wrong with a simple cross-bust empire-line chiffon dress can you?!

  11. I don’t believe the internet is a place for seriousness.

That LGU310 is incrdiubly sexy. Slobber! The razr just looks puffed up and arrogant. ;-)

  12. I need to learn how to go smart shopping. :| That stuff is nice AND cheap. I’m so jealous.
