Explanation

It appears that with the advent of Myspace, and the fact that everyone and their grandma has an account, law enforcement officers are making the site their first port of call when it comes to solving crimes related to youth.

In the murder case of Carly Ryan, an Adelaide teenager, police officers visited her Myspace for clues to her death (link). In last years Werribee rape case, many of the perpetrators of the crime boasted of the DVD on Myspace accounts – boasts which were eventually found by the media and splashed across headlines.

The Internet could be so beautiful. I must admit – I have a Utopian view. I want to think of the Internet as somewhere where people can gather and exchange deep and meaningful comments on art and culture. Instead…you get the fucktards mentioned above. It almost makes one cry with disappointment.

  3. Would meaningful comments on art and culture count as me drooling over pictures of Tom Felton and Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter? No? Then you’re slightly delusional, m’dear.

It would be nice to live in your world.

  5. *Don’t use myspace*

I dunno… the internet is just another medium where people get to interact. It’s so big that everyday, real life crimes merely carries over. What’s wrong with the picture is not the internet, it’s just some people. =/

  6. Ahh…this is not a perfect world. Something bad always comes with something good. The Internet was meant to be a means of communication and interaction; so we could solve our problems quicker. Instead, we also get more problems created on the Internet.

  7. I still think though that people are overly cautious and that if you’re not stupid you won’t get screwed over by the internet. But i dunno, maybe I’m too nonchalant.

    Creepy stuff, even so.
