March 7 2007: Bikini Tops
Filed under Body & Money & Style
Did you know that it’s near impossible for someone with DD/E breasts to buy a decent non-old-woman, semi-trendy bikini that offers support?
No? Well now you know. Like I said to Tracey yesterday, I actually contemplated buying two bikini tops and sewing them together to make the one bikini. Only then would there actually be enough material to cover what needed to be covered for decency’s sake (I don’t want a Tara Reid-esque stray nipple accident thank you very much).
I ended up shelling more than I would have liked ($48 for a bikini set, though that was after 40% off), but I’m fairly satisfied with it. There was another more bust-supporting option, but that was priced at $160. It’s monetary discrimination against the full-busted, that’s what it is.
By the way, I’m going to be MIA from Saturday to Monday. I’m going to a friend’s beach house…hence the bikini search. And yes, that is me in the photo.

I swear! Those bikinis do not do good for boobage. :P But you’re a DD/E (I’m guessing) so that’s not really needed. :P

Thanks for the info… if I ever have the daring to wear a bikini, I’ll bear that in mind.
On another note, did you notice your blog’s turning into a fashion blog? Most of what you’ve written this last month has been about clothes, or celebrities wearing clothes XD

I know exactly what you mean! It is discrimination!
That’s a really cute top, btw ;)

Discrimination! No shit!
That is a rather nice bikini top, though. Glad you found one you liked. :)

It’s impossible to find a 34C bikini top unless it uses standard bra sizes. Apparently, 34C just isn’t a size that people normally are. That is a cute top you bought.

If I suddenly have a growth spurt that causes me to jump four cup sizes, I’ll keep this advice in mind.
Nice top.

well, I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum. when you’re as flat as me, it’s pretty hard to wear anything for swimming/beach-going …there’s nothing there and it just looks ridiculous, haha.

The bandeau style tops are by far my favourite. I’m far too self-concious to really wear a bikini though. I just want to hide beneath the water – and then I realise people can see into it.
That one’s nice though. :D

That was a nice bikini top!
And I love all your entries are shopping/fashion related.
I don’t know if it is discrimination or what. I’m pretty thin and tall, and it’s hard to find t-shirts, tops and the like that actually cover my abs. I have the good luck to have a flat belly, but it doesn’t mean I have to show it. And those stores always make tops that leave my belly button uncovered! :-(
So I pretty much think they make a standard size because it’s cheaper and if you haven’t got a standard body, so screw you…it seems…
Anyway, please, pleeeeeease keep on with these entries! I’d love to see your wardrobe. You seem to have great taste. (Ps let me know if I sound too enthusiastic here… )

I think I’m a little lucky when it comes to my boobs. Even though they’re big enough to be harbouring terrorists, they’re perky enough for me to wear bikini tops with little support. Before I got fat and switched to one piece swimsuits, I never really had an issue with finding bikinis.
I wont be saying this when I’m 50 and have had children though.

…Roxy? ROXY? Ok, you’re forgiven, considering there wasn’t really anything else.
But surf brands? Sheesh! :P
Also, no more talk of Tara Reid. That scarred me for life!

By ‘eck, you’ll knock someone’s eyes out with them!
I don’t know if they ship outside of the UK, but for future reference to anyone big-busted who might be interested: http://www.bravissimo.com

[...] There was sandcastle building, there was burying-brother-in-sand, there was a dude friend coming to say hi, there was squealing as we hit the icy water…and there was belly bulging from too many beers on holiday. Really should do something about that. Keen-eyed long-term readers of this blog may also recognise that particular bikini top. [...]
