Thankful

I’m thankful for so many things.
I’m thankful that I had $132 taken out of my paycheck this week for taxes, because chances are I’ll get the majority of it back in about October, just in time for when I go overseas again. Talk about an easy way to make sure you don’t spend too much money all at once.
I’m thankful that I’m going to the airport in just under two weeks to pick someone up. I’ve missed them in the time since I’ve been back.
I’m thankful that it’s raining. We need the rain here in Melbourne…our water supplies were getting low and I can envision a full-scale drought in urban areas within five years.
I’m thankful that I have a variety of friends – that I can go out to a guaranteed-to-be-wild 21st birthday party tonight dressed as a ho for the “Pimps and Hos” theme, but that I can go to a sedate brunch and movie tomorrow with other friends too.
I’m thankful that my mother didn’t chuck a fit when I informed her of my decision to transfer out of my current B.Arts/B.Education course into a plain B.Arts course with a Diploma in Languages. My father…well, that’s a different issue altogether.
I’m thankful that I’m young, healthy, educated (or in the process of being so), with a comfortable part-time job, with a somewhat sane family, a wonderful group of friends, a fantastic somebody that I can talk to, and most importantly…the ability to express my heartfelt thanks. I would go crazy if I couldn’t blog.
Thank you.

So before you were blogging, you were crazy? Thank you Amanda, for blogging.

I’m grateful to have two open-minded parents who, although they have their own values, were able to set them aside and accept the fact that I don’t want children. I’d go insane if my parents weren’t okay with that. I’m also grateful to have a dad who doesn’t shy away from topics like homosexuality and the Marine Corps in everyday discussion with me, although I do wish he would stop saying things like “I’d still love you if you were!”

Amanda, I simply cannot keep up with your blogging frequency anymore. I don’t know how you manage to come up with interesting blog entries. In fact, perhaps it’s because I spend far too much time doing nothing and little time socializing.
Tracey has already said what I was going to say and that would be – thankyou, Amanda, for being such a good blogger, a HP addict, a Drarry fan, a great person and… for being you.
At the moment I’m too pessimistic to be thankful for anything!

It makes my day to see I’m not the only person in the (Internet) world that can appreciate the little things in life.
Generally it’s all about the big expensive materialistic things and people forget to be thankful for certain things in life. They take it for granted.

OMG! I was just going to write a post exactly like this! We had a seminar in school about the moral problems the country is facing, the lives that have been lost to drug addiction, abortion, STDs etc and the speaker was talking about how he used to be a drug addict, how his younger brother was one and committed suicide after rehab, how his family suffered etc. And I suddenly felt so thankful for a lot of things. Although I think it’s sad that I have to know about how bad other people’s lives are to appreciate my own. I’ll probably just leave a trackback coz it’s a very long list.

I think we often forget (myself included) how lucky and blessed we are. Good post. Like the new theme. :)
