January 17 2007: The Globes

Oh noes! I forgot to comment on the Golden Globes, because like, I’m totally qualified to do so. Right?

Let’s do some outfit breakdowns (courtesy of E!’s photo gallery) shall we?

And in other Globes commentary:

Oh, and random question, I’m putting it to the viewers - best older woman: Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep?

  1. Hm. Penelope Cruz/Orlando Bloom. Unlikeliest couple ever, and I’m not even interested in this sort of stuff.

  2. I’ve been offline for a few days and what do I find.. Amanda on the move. I’m sorry to hear you got hacked and therefor had to / felt like you had to move away from O-R but I can understand it too, it feels like your ‘home’ is being invaded.

I’m sure things will go well here for you at Jing-Wen.com, I’ll update my links :)

  3. Now this is eerily reminding me of go fug yourself, but entertaining all the same. I liked Reese’s outfit, I think it worked on her. And um, yeah, what’s with those weird straps on Eva Longoria? Did you see Vanessa Williams’ hair? Oh my goodness.

I feel like such a bitch now.

  4. I didn’t notice anyone other than America Ferrera… and even if I did, I forgot about them quicksmart!

    I vote for Helen Mirren!

  5. Meryl Streep.

  6. I agree with it all, except I don’t know who some of those people are lol.

  7. Angelina Jolie - I agree. Not a good look. I think that she has worn uglier things, but I hate the color of that dress and it gives her no shape. Bleck.

Reese Witherspoon - I like the yellow with the red shoes, surprisingly. I can see why you would think it was ugly though. I’m sure only some people would like it — me being one of the few.

Eva Longoria - I like the waist up (especially the straps) and the color, but everything from the waist down is ugly. Not a good shape.

Cameron Diaz - THE UGLIEST DRESS OF THE NIGHT! I think I shrieked when I first saw that. And the almost-black hair? Wha-at? *shudder*

Beyonce - I think Beyonce was confused - it was the Golden Globes, not the MTV Music Awards! I love Beyonce (very beautiful), but c’mon… put the boobs away and show some class! The metallic gold color was hideous, too.

Penelope Cruz - Her and Orlando Bloom? What a weird couple. Never would have guessed that. I agree with you on the dress, WAY too much ruffle

Jennifer Lopez - I love the color and trim of the dress… but yes, it looks like a tablecloth. If it was more fitted it would be much more pretty.

My favorites of the night were Sienna Miller (me love!), Hilary Swank, and Reese Witherspoon).

  8. My takes on the GG.

    1. Angelina Jolie + Brad Pitt = Best looking couple on the red carpet. I mean… please.
    2. Vanessa William shouldn’t have popped her head into the microwave. Baaaaad move.
    3. What the fuggg was Jennifer Lopez wearing. Yes, I guess as you said, a table cloth is the best description ;)
    4. Jessica Biel was hot, no?
    5. Meryl Streep rocks your socks.

    “That’s all”

  9. Meryl Streep!

Cameron Diaz and Beyonce were walking fashion disasters. Angelina looked gorgeous but damn, I wish she had even cracked a smile. :(

  10. Another new domain! Wow. Am I late in the celebration? Congratulations, or whatever the appropriate term for the said occasion is.

You should have your own show! Seriously, the commentators they have on the entertainment channels suck horribly!

I mostly agree with you.. except, I didn’t think Reese looked that great. When she came on stage her, hair was all messy and stuff. And I for once that J.Ho looked nice. I liked her dress!

  11. ooh i forgot that the Golden Globes were even on! though i should stop watching the red carpet….makes me was to be rich and gorgeous…enough money to have couture dresses and look good enough to wear them. anyway, i liked Reese Witherspoon’s dress and she wore the color well. and Kate Winslet is always awesome =)

  12. Meryl Streep, definitly. I can’t say I know how was the ceremony, since I only saw a few highlights on E!
Wait a minute, you said Penelope Cruz is dating Orlando Bloom? I think I live in a bubble or something like that because I didn’t know! (I actualy figured Cameron and Justin weren’t together anymore a few days ago, so yeah, I like in a bubble, sort of).
I have also just noticed you have a new domain (congrats!), and I must say the layout is beautiful! I love it! I’ll update my link in a second. :D
Also, I hope you got my email? :)

  13. Helen is by far the more sophisticated, I think. However I’m not quite sure I like seeing quite so much of her upper half. You know, because I’m a prude like that.

The star of the show for me was definitely Reese - she looked absolutely wonderful.
