The Man In The Iron Mask: Starry Skies Above

He gazes through the slits in his iron mask, but his eyes see nothing but the drab grey of his cell. For fifteen odd years has his life been confined within these four walls of the Bastille, stifling after the early years of freedom and fresh air.

He thinks of the few days, long ago, when he thought he would escape. The musketeer deserted him, but Phillipe cares not anymore. Was it a dream, or reality? He can no longer recall.

For now, he has only the memory of the starry skies above. It is enough to keep him sane.
